  • A tour is not an athletic event, fast-paced, or physically challenging. It is an educational stroll through the park. We spend our time meandering around the park while observing, learning about wild edibles that we encounter. The tour ends with a seasonal wild snack.

  • Perfect! This will spark your interest and be an excellent intro to wild edibles.

  • Tours take place in parks in Indianapolis. Each tour is labeled with the location in the booking details. You will receive an email with the exact meeting place after booking your tour.

  • Wild Food Tours last 1.5 hours. Please arrive 10 minutes early as we like to get started right on time.

  • We partner with experienced Indiana foragers. Check out the bios below to learn more about the guides.

  • The menu changes with the season. Typically you will get to try something savory, something sweet, and a beverage. 

  • Curiosity for the natural world. We provide note taking materials in case you feel scholarly.

  • Dress for the weather and wear shoes that are comfortable for walking in grass and across uneven ground. If it’s been rainy, consider boots to keep your feet dry. 

  • Yes! We welcome people of all ages. The pace is slow, so keep that in mind when considering bringing your small children. (Personally, my three year old probably wouldn’t last the whole time, but at least we’re at a park so we could run off and play if needed) Children under 10 are free.

  • Feel free to let us know about your dietary needs and we will do our best to accommodate.

  • Tours are rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of severe weather. In that case, you will get a text letting you know about the cancellation. Otherwise, dress for the weather and enjoy experiencing Mother Earth’s love and care.

    Founder of Wild Food Tours and preparer of seasonal wild snacks. Did she start Wild Food Tours as a selfish excuse to learn more about the natural world? Perhaps. By day she is a photographer, farmer, partner and mother.

  • Greg

    A student of nature with a gift for nourishing deep connections between people and plants.
    He has been a practicing herbal educator, medicine maker and grower since 2008. He and his wife co-founded Persimmon Herb School in 2015 to hold plant centered space and build a healing community.
